  • What do you want students to take away from your courses?

    I want students to learn to confidently and competently apply theoretical knowledge to deliver culturally sensitive, compassionate nursing care to people in a variety of settings. Overarching goals and learning outcomes include inspiring students to be lifelong learners through meaningful learning activities intended to enhance self-development, professional growth, critical thinking, and leadership.

  • Why did you start teaching?

    I started teaching because I believe I can help shape the future of healthcare by teaching the next generation of nurses not only the clinical skills needed to be successful in the profession but also the essential principles of caring and leadership behind the work that we do.

  • What advice would you give to those considering this online program?

    Be prepared, be comfortable with the technology, get organized—create a schedule or routine, communicate with faculty and engage with peers, ask questions.

  • What qualities make someone particularly successful in the area in which you teach?

    Be curious, open-minded, and willing to learn. Be supportive, engaging, and generous. Be conscientious, articulate, and collaborative.

  • What do you think is the biggest challenge that people in the profession face today?

    Communication breakdowns.
