In which online degree program do you teach?

  • What do you want students to take away from your courses?

Be the best you can be each and every day.

  • Why did you start teaching?

In 1993, I started as a preceptor to new hires because I envisioned the need for new hires to be well trained. In 1995, I became a Clinical Education Specialist at St. Joseph's Medical Center, Paterson. I was encouraged to further my education as a requirement for my job, so I enrolled in the MSN program at WPU. Upon completion, I was hired as a part-time instructor. Fast forward to today, I earned my DNP and I have been teaching in the nursing department since 2002. I have a passion for preparing students to care for vulnerable populations in their time of need.

  • What advice would you give to those considering this online program?

Online programs require your time and attention as if you were attending a face-to-face class during a regular semester.

  • What qualities make someone particularly successful in the area in which you teach?

I have 42 years of bedside nursing experience, which enables me to facilitate students to blend didactic material into real-world situations. These qualities encompass cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains.

  • What do you think is the biggest challenge that people in the profession face today?

Being able to successfully blend classroom material with real-world situations.

  • What is the one book you think everyone should read?

“How Starbucks Saved My Life” by Michael Gates Gill and “Still Alice” by Lisa Genova.

  • Tell us something interesting about yourself that your students may not know about you.

    I am an avid cook!
